Robotic Road Painting That Improves Worker Safety & Productivity – An Introduction to RoadPrintz
Join President Sam Bell as he walks us through how RoadPrintz improves the safety of street workers and the broader community. He’ll share examples of RoadPrintz work in Cleveland, including turn arrows, bike lanes and cautionary street symbols.
Robotic Road Painting With RoadPrintz – Improve Worker Safety and Productivity
This reel features 14 examples of RoadPrintz painting applications on streets in and around Cleveland. Includes letter painting, symbol painting, green and blue rectangles, center line placement, safety cone deployment, digital road scanning, and cab monitor operations.
Learn About the Electra100 Design
Wyatt Newman, Chief Technology Officer, explains RoadPrintz’s current Production Model named Electra. In this video, the painting robot is mounted on the back of a Ford 550 truck at QT Equipment Manufacturing in Akron, Ohio. The robot arm is built to handle the punishing schedule of an automotive assembly line so it is reliable. And, the painting equipment is professional grade Graco equipment that many DOTs, public works departments and pavement marking contractors use.
High Durability Paint As A Thermoplastic Alternative
The robotic detail pavement marking system uses waterborne latex traffic paints, solvent-based acrylic traffic paints and chalk based temporary marking paints.Durable paints that have been shown to be the equal or superior of thermoplastic are also compatible. Dow DuraTrack-based paints (a hybrid epoxy) like AquaTough by Aexcel are compatible with the system.
Crosswalk Lined Up Across Multiple Lanes
Lining up a crosswalk across multiple lanes is simple. The operator uses the in-cab computer touchscreen to line up the next lanes’ crosswalk section perfectly with the section already painted. The process can take less than a minute.
More Than Painting – Places Safety Cones
The system does more than paint transverse symbols. From the stack of safety cones it carries, the robotic arm places safety cones exactly where the operator directs. No boots on the ground!
Improving Safety for Municipal Public Workers
Rick, a Cleveland Department of Public Works employee, shows how the RoadPrintz’ Robotic Detail Road Marking System repaints the continental-style crosswalks on Public Square in Downtown Cleveland.
Robotic Road Painting System from RoadPrintz that Improves Road Worker Safety for State & City DOTs
See multiple applications in and around Cleveland, Ohio. The system is easy to use – a computer touchscreen controls the robot from the comfort of the truck cab. Even inexperienced road painters can paint with precision after a day of training. Not only is layout easy but the robot paints fast – about 3 minutes for a turn arrow. Footage covers projects from 2023-25.
How Our Robotic Road Painting Vehicle Is Built to Last
See how the current model, Electra100, was designed and built with our manufacturing partner, QT Equipment. The design incorporates top performing components to produce a reliable and easy to maintain painting system. Each unit is completed, calibrated and tested in our facility to ensure its reliability.
