“It takes away the whole set up procedure which is the hardest part. Saves the city, saves the crew, saves me time and energy. It doesn’t burn us out one symbol at a time. We move at a great pace and the precision of it! The symbols come out perfect. After an hour or two in the heat, we are still perfect. The machine doesn’t get tired. Every marking comes out perfect every time. You can’t ask for a better coworker. If it was up to me personally, we would have 4 of these.
For me as a supervisor, I don’t have 3 guys in the street. The truck puts out its own cones – that safety aspect is remarkable to me. I don’t have to worry about the heat of the Texas sun which is a big deal for the crew.
The guys appreciate it. As a supervisor, we can get more work done because spend less time cleaning up at the end of the day. Everyone is more pleasant. It made everyone’s job easier. The crew would probably go on strike if took the truck away.”
Clyde, Houston Road Crew Supervisor

“ I was assigned to work with an exciting new piece of equipment: a painting robot on a truck. I had never been a painter before, but in a matter of less than an hour, I learned how to use the RoadPrintz system to paint or repaint detail markings like turn arrows and stop bars. Within a day or two I got really good at it.
It’s got a touchscreen control system that’s as easy to use as your phone. The morning setup routine is quick and simple. And it’s safe. Once you leave the depot you don’t have to get out of the truck until it’s time for lunch. Of course it’s air conditioned, so you don’t melt like you would if you were standing on the road doing this work with stencils or melting thermoplastic with a torch. At the end of your shift, clean-up is easy too. I’ve really enjoyed working with this machine.”

“Operating it is easy. It’s simple to change and it’s consistent, no matter how many you do you can pull up the same image and they all match. So it makes our work look good.
For this job we used seven stencils, so in the past it took three guys doing this and right now we can do it with one guy driving the truck. It’s a lot easier on your back and your hand [because] I’m not on the street bending over.
I’m not in traffic, I’m not blind. You have cars coming at you and I can’t see them. When I tell my wife that I’ll be sitting in a truck and putting this down, it will make her life easier. So this, safety-wise, is 100 percent better than what we do.”
